In addition, Better Homes and Gardens recently surveyed more than 700 home owners across the country and identified their top six priorities when buying a new home:

* energy-efficient building/heating-cooling systems
* natural light
* no-space-wasted design
* ample storage area
* comfortable gathering areas
69% of the respondents listed no-space-wasted design and ample storage as very important.
